ARA-290
11-amino-acid innate repair receptor (IRR) agonist derived from erythropoietin helix-B
ARA-290 (cibinetide) is an 11-amino-acid peptide modeled on the helix-B region of erythropoietin. It selectively engages the innate repair receptor without stimulating red-cell production, and has been studied for neuropathic pain and tissue protection, notably in sarcoidosis-related small-fiber neuropathy. It is investigational.
Mechanism under study
Activates the innate repair receptor (a heteromer of the EPO receptor and the beta-common receptor, CD131) to trigger anti-inflammatory and tissue-protective signaling, without the erythropoietic or prothrombotic effects of full-length erythropoietin. Studied for restoring small-nerve-fiber function and reducing neuropathic pain.
Research-reported dosing
Clinical trials have used subcutaneous cibinetide commonly around 4 mg per day for about 28 days in small-fiber neuropathy research, with related regimens explored. Investigational; not an approved drug.
4 mg vial + 2 mL bacteriostatic water = 2,000 mcg/mL (2 mg/mL); 1 unit is approximately 0.02 mg (20 mcg). A 2 mg vial + 1 mL bacteriostatic water yields the same 2 mg/mL.
