Melanotan II Dosage Chart & Schedule

A synthetic melanocortin agonist studied for skin pigmentation (tanning) and, secondarily, arousal. It is not approved, and research notes meaningful safety considerations.

The short answer

An unapproved melanocortin agonist. Research-community protocols reference a loading phase of roughly 0.25-0.5 mg daily, then a maintenance phase of about 0.5-1 mg two to three times weekly once the desired pigmentation is reached.

Figures describe how Melanotan II is reported in the research literature and research-community references — not a recommendation for human use. For laboratory research only.

Loading phase

Loading phase; low daily amounts are referenced to build pigmentation gradually and limit nausea.

Cycle
Ongoing after loading

Reduced frequency once the target pigmentation is reached; it is unapproved and carries noted safety considerations.

Unapproved; safety considerations

  • Non-selectively activates melanocortin receptors, driving melanogenesis (MC1R) and influencing appetite and arousal (MC4R).
  • Not approved; research notes mole and pigmentation changes and nausea as meaningful safety considerations.

Melanotan II reconstitution

Based on a standard 10 mg vial: with 2 mL bacteriostatic water = 5,000 mcg/mL (5 mg/mL); 1 unit ≈ 50 mcg.

From vial to injection in 6 steps

1

Wipe both vial tops

Swab the peptide vial and the bacteriostatic-water vial with fresh alcohol and let them dry.

2

Draw the water

Pull the planned amount of bacteriostatic water (2 mL) into the syringe.

3

Add it slowly

Run the water down the inside wall of the vial — don't blast the powder. Swirl gently; never shake.

4

Let it dissolve

Wait until the solution is fully clear, then refrigerate the vial.

5

Draw your dose

Pull the calculated units on a U-100 insulin syringe (~10 units for 500 mcg).

6

Store between uses

Keep the reconstituted vial refrigerated and use within its stable window.

Handling & storage

  • A 10 mg vial + 2 mL bacteriostatic water = 5 mg/mL, so 0.5 mg draws to about 10 units on a U-100 syringe.
  • Doses are small, so measure carefully; a more dilute mix can improve dosing precision at the low end.
  • Refrigerate after reconstitution and keep the lyophilized powder cool and dark.

Melanotan II dosing FAQ

What is the loading phase?

References describe a loading phase of roughly 0.25-0.5 mg daily to build pigmentation, then a switch to a lower-frequency maintenance schedule once the target is reached.

How often during maintenance?

Commonly referenced at about 0.5-1 mg two to three times weekly, rather than daily, once the desired pigmentation is established.

What draws up on a syringe?

From a 10 mg vial in 2 mL (5 mg/mL): 0.25 mg = about 5 units, 0.5 mg = about 10 units, 1 mg = about 20 units on a U-100 insulin syringe.
